tips you can use to get your quilts ready for longarm quilting.

How to Prepare Your Quilt for Machine Quilting

Trim all loose threads.
Secure all seams.
Backstitch at the outer edge of your border seams.
Remove all pins.
Press the top and back of your quilt and fold each one separately.
Piece the backing of your quilt using 1/2" seams and press these seams open.
Square up all sides of the top and back of your quilt to form a straight edge for quilting.
Make the back 2" larger than the top on all four sides. (width +4", length +4")
Batting must be as long and as wide as your backing.
("Warm and Natural" 100% cotton batting is available from our shop. )
Is your backing pieced with either borders or blocks?
(Due to the pull of the fabric on the machine they may not be perfectly centered
but, we'll do our best.)
Think about the color of your quilt thread when choosing your backing fabric.
